Tip of the Week: Get your swing on plane

When it comes to flaws in a golf swing, one of the most common terms you hear thrown around, and mistakes that instructors regularly see, is “coming over the top.”

What that term is used to describe is a club that on the downswing gets outside of the ball, which means the angle of approach is going to be too steep and the path of the swing will be from outside to inside, neither of which is a good thing in terms of solid, consistent ball-striking.

In this video segment, Swingpal.com instructor George Connor has a great drill to help you eliminate an over-the-top move and get the club on-plane and approaching the golf ball from the inside.

Check out this video and give this drill a try to understand what it feels like to get into a better impact position. If you can do that, straighter, more powerful shots will be the result.
