Teaching Philosophy
Michael believes in a developmental approach of instruction that is based on building a solid foundation using golf fundamentals. He works with students to foster sound golf skills through repetitive motion training, using theories developed by experts in motor skill learning. His approach is long-term, but can be applied in a short-term setting, to realize significant improvement in ball flight in just one day. He is equally adept at teaching both beginners and advanced players. One skill that separates Michael from other instructors is his ability to quickly identify the main cause, or flaw, in the golf swing, and recommend drills and exercises to make corrections.

“Being recently retired, I knew I wanted to learn the game of golf. Luckily for me a friend of mine found out about Michael Brisbane. Michael offered affordable golf clinics and in March of last year I signed up. I cannot say enough about this man's teaching ability. Not only is he an excellent instructor but he makes golf fun. Michael loves the game, you pick that up immediately when taking lessons from him. He encourages his students, focusing on their positive attributes. I think one of the things that I value most about Michael's teaching is his perceptiveness in "seeing" the incorrectness of a stroke I have made and giving me the feedback to correct it - then being so very patient as I attempt to apply his feedback. Up until about a month ago I was in Michael's clinic every week unless I was out of town. Now I am playing golf at least three times a week and still take a lesson occasionally. Thank you Michael for the "gift" you've given me.”

“I have been working with Michael for almost eight years and can say that he is a hard-working teacher that really cares about his students. He has always gone the extra mile to make sure I understand what we are working on and what we need to do to fix it. Being one of the top instructors in the state, his knowledge of the game makes the golf swing seem very simple. While working with him I am always leaving our lessons with confidence and a great understanding of what we are working on and how to fix it.”

“I really enjoyed my lessons with Michael and it's at a reasonable price for people who can't afford lessons. Michael is great and very easy to understand. I really enjoy it and am looking forward to taking more lessons.”

When it comes to the golf swing, most golfers are aware that a key ingredient to good ball-striking is to have a swing that’s on plane. What many golfers don’t understand, however, is what constitutes a proper swing path, especially ...
